Roadside Assistance Coverage FAQs

What kind of roadside assistance coverage does Best Roadside Service offer?

Roadside breakdowns, dead batteries, flat tires and more happen to nearly all of us at one time or another. Best Roadside Service is an auto club program that offers emergency roadside assistance plans. These programs are designed to enhance security, peace of mind and safety by helping to keep you and your family’s vehicles and members protected in the case of a roadside breakdown. We also offer commercial roadside assistance services for company vehicles and fleets. Once you join our auto club, if you ever need help you can simply call our toll-free number and one of our service professionals will route service to you right away.

Our towing, fuel delivery, jump start services and more cover you in the event of a tire blowout, if you need towing due to engine trouble, if you run out of fuel, lock your keys in your vehicle, leave your lights on and the battery goes dead, lose your keys or lock yourself out or experience any other type of disablement. See our full list of plans for a complete list of program details and included services.

At Best Roadside Service we deliver the best service at the best price!

What is roadside assistance coverage?

Roadside assistance coverage is an insurance plan that helps individuals and companies when they experience an emergency with their vehicle. It includes everything from delivering fuel if you run out of gas on the road to helping you replace flat tires.

How is Best Roadside Service different than ordinary roadside service?

We dispatch the best, most efficient and professional towing and repair companies in the U.S. and Canada to ensure that your vehicles are handled properly and safely. With over 45,000 providers, we stand ready to assist you when you need us. For a comparison amongst other roadside service companies, see our comparison chart.

How do I get help when my vehicle is disabled?

Getting help during a roadside emergency is easy! Simply call our toll-free roadside assistance number located on your member email or ID card.

One of our friendly service representatives will make sure you’re in a safe place and have you describe your location and vehicle so they can immediately dispatch the needed service right to you. Knowing which road you are on and the nearest cross street or mile marker, as well as the make, model and color of your vehicle, will be helpful.

What towing service would you call in my area?

Best Roadside Service has a network of over 45,000 service and repair facilities across the U.S. and Canada to provide towing and roadside assistance services for individuals and a commercial towing plan for businesses. The tow provider closest to the location of needed service, with the proper equipment and who is first available for a timely dispatch, would be called to provide service to your breakdown location.

Is the signup price an introductory rate?

The signup price is not an introductory rate as at Best Roadside Service we provide the same great rate to all our members, new and continuing. While we strive to provide the best rates and most comprehensive service to you year after year, we cannot guarantee that it will stay at that rate forever. With inflation and possible fuel price increases, the rates may someday increase. Rest assured that we do everything possible to make the rates as affordable as possible for our members. To date, we have had only one price increase.

Is the emergency number a toll-free number?

Yes. The emergency roadside assistance phone number is toll-free and is provided to approved members only.

What areas are covered in your service plan?

We cover all 50 states in the U.S. and all Canadian provinces.

How many cars are covered under the vehicle plan?

The vehicle plan covers 1 vehicle. You have the option to purchase coverage for up to three additional vehicles (4 total) at a discounted rate on the sign-up page. Each vehicle is eligible for up to 6 service calls. The policy is attached to that vehicle and anyone driving that vehicle will be covered. Join now and save $10!

What’s the difference between the vehicle plan and individual plan?

The vehicle plan[link] covers you no matter what vehicle you’re in. This is good if you have multiple drivers and one or two vehicles (i.e. more drivers than vehicles). The individual plan[link] covers you in any vehicle, even if you’re not the driver (non-commercial or non-company vehicles not covered). This plan is great if you want the extra protection of being covered in multiple vehicles, frequently change or use different vehicles, or if you have more cars than drivers, like an additional vehicle you don’t use all the time.

How many service calls do I get?

Vehicle Plans | Each vehicle registered under our vehicle plan comes with 6 service calls. If you register 4 vehicles, each one is eligible for up to 6 calls, for a total of 24 service calls. Service calls may not be transferred between vehicles.

Individual Plans | The single member individual plan comes with 4 service calls. The couple/family plans come with 6 service calls that are shared between the members.

Can I add more vehicles?

You can sign-up up to 4 vehicles at one time. If you have more than 4 vehicles to sign up or you need to sign up an extra vehicle at a later date other than the date you originally signed up your vehicles, you will have to do that as a separate account.

Do I have to be reimbursed or does Best Roadside pay if I need service?

Should your vehicle become disabled, Best Roadside will arrange and pay for all qualifying services. Should a member need service that is beyond our coverage, we will arrange service that can be paid directly to the service provider by the member.

How long has Best Roadside been in business?

We have provided emergency roadside assistance for nearly 30 years to dealerships and our commercial customers throughout North America. More recently have we offered our services to our individual customers online. We still offer the same services and technology as with all of our commercial and corporate accounts.

What will I receive after being approved as a member?

Your membership information and the toll-free 800 number to our roadside assistance center will all be provided to you upon approval as a member. This information is sent via email. This allows us to offer better services for a lower cost than our competitors. Upon signing up please remember to add support@bestroadsideservice to your safe senders list. All of your membership information will come from this email address.

What is the response time if my vehicle is disabled and needs service?

Our nationwide average response time is 58 minutes. This can vary greatly depending on the location of your vehicle, weather, and distance from the nearest provider of the service that is needed. As an example, should your vehicle become disabled near a major city during light traffic hours and during good weather, your wait should be less than 30 minutes. If your vehicle becomes disabled on a holiday, during bad weather far from a major city then the wait could be longer than 30 minutes. To see what others have said about our response time, check out our testimonials!

What will be the activation date of my service?

We require a five business day waiting period before new accounts can become active. The soonest that we can provide service is one week (seven calendar days) from your purchase date. This restriction is in place to ensure that the service is only used to service disablements that happen after the date of activation.

What is the distance of the towing service?

Our roadside assistance service will tow your vehicle to the nearest, most qualified, repair facility up to 75 miles. If the repair facility is further than 75 miles away, then we will make arrangements for you to pay the difference directly to the towing service provider. Tow rates vary across the United States and Canada but range between $2 and $4 per mile.

What is the maximum weight allowed to tow a vehicle?

Our service currently allows vehicles whose Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) is less than 12,500 lbs. We do our best to make sure that the weight of your vehicle is verified upon approval but ultimately it is the responsibility of the vehicle owner to make sure that the GVW is less than 12,500 lbs.

Where can my vehicle be towed?

We will work with you to get your car towed to the best-qualified repair facility. We do not tow to your home.

What is the cost of the fuel that is delivered?

Many competing companies charge the going rate for the fuel that is delivered. Since our service is a premium grade membership, the cost of the fuel delivered is included in your membership. If you ever run out of gas, you do not have to worry about how you will pay for it. It is already covered.

How many gallons of fuel will be delivered if I run out?

In the event that a member runs out of gas, we will deliver 3 gallons of gas free of charge. Even the cost of the fuel is included in your membership. If used, this service is not again available for a period of four weeks.

What is included in your flat tire service?

Should you get a flat tire or blowout while traveling, we will dispatch a service technician that will arrive and swap your flat tire for the spare tire that is with your vehicle. It is the responsibility of the member to have a working spare with the vehicle at all times. Should the member have a flat tire without a working spare, Best Roadside Service will not be able to offer towing as an alternate solution. For Motorcycles, a flatbed will always be used for flat tires.

What is included in your dead battery and jump start service?

If you leave your lights on or find that your battery has been drained, we will send a service technician to your location in order to jump-start your vehicle. Once jump-started, your vehicle will be able to run and continue running until your vehicle is turned off again. Jump-starting a vehicle is very different from charging a battery. Charging a battery consists of connecting a power source to a battery for a long period of time in order to give the battery the power needed to start the motor itself. We do not offer a battery charge service. We do not offer any service to fix or replace dead batteries or batteries that will not hold a charge. If your battery will hold a charge, it will charge while the motor is running.

What if I lose my keys?

If you lose your keys, we will allow up to $100 for a temporary key in order to get you on your way again. This part of the service is only a dollar value due to the extreme variations in locksmith costs and methods.

If I lock my keys in the car, how will your service provider unlock my car?

We only unlock your doors using manufacturer approved tools and methods.

How will I be reminded to renew my membership?

We send out renewal notices via email at 60, 30 and 7 days before your yearly membership expires. This email will contain a link to where you can pay and renew.

Can I pay monthly or yearly?

Currently, the only option for payment is yearly. This offers an easy renewal once per year and allows us to keep out rates low for you.

What if I need a refund?

If you need a refund for any reason, we can pro-rate the refund for full unused months less a $10 administrative fee. If you have used the service for any reason, no refunds will be given.
